Decorating Easter eggs with wallpaper

We’ve joined up with Malin Mörner to show you an exciting Easter crafting activity using wallpaper. It’s a great way for the whole family to really get creative and spend quality time together.

"This is an ideal activity for grown-ups and children. You can be as creative as you like and it’s a fun craft that everyone can do together!"

Beautiful Easter eggs

For this you will need:

  • Wallpaper
  • Paints and brushes
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Brads/paper fasteners or glue
  • Easter eggs

Instructions:

  1. Find the Easter eggs that you already have. I’ve used a regular wall paint that I had at home to paint over the patterns that are on some of the eggs. Or you can use any craft paint. I decided not to paint the plain eggs.
  2. Dig out old rolls of wallpaper and snip out the patterns or make your own. Glue the bits of wallpaper on the eggs, creating your own design. Just let your imagination flow. One of my rolls of wallpaper had large flowers which I cut out and placed on top of one another, then pinned them together with a paper fastener or glue. Another roll had small leaves on it which I used to create a leafy ribbon all the way around the egg. I cut out lots of small flowers from another wallpaper and simply glued them in layers on the top half of the Easter egg. Glue the patterns you’ve chosen into place and let them dry.
  3. Fill the egg with beautiful tissue paper or baking paper, and sweets that are the same colour as the egg. Sprinkle decoratively with some dried flowers if you like.

"Useful tip! You can also cut around all the petals and bend them upwards to give the flowers a beautiful 3D effect."

Malin's wallpaper

Malin chose rolls of wallpaper with large flowers, small flowers and small leaves which she cut out and used to decorate her Easter eggs.
